Hey everyone!
I’ve officially been a missionary for 2 months today! I can’t believe it! Time is moving too quickly! First off, thanks for all the fun emails 🙂 I love hearing from all of you! I truly am blessed to have the family and friends that I do! It is so nice to have such an incredible support group.
This week was crazy! Last week, after emailing, my companion let me know that she had decided to go home. She felt like she wasn’t getting better and she hated sitting around when there is so much to do. (She has been sick for about 4 weeks now) So last P-day she packed up all her things. Long story short, we went to see President and Sister Weaver that night and she is no longer going home! The next day we got her blood test results back and nothing looked unusual so we still don’t know what was wrong with her. So she is staying and this week she has actually started to feel much better so that is a blessing. It was just a trial that she had to go through and now we are back to work.
This past week we have been visiting a ton of people from the ward. This ward is very weak and has SO many less active members. Sister Crosby and I have a goal to visit evey member this transfer and try to help uplift them and strengthen them. There are also tons of people who need jobs in the ward. We can’t really help much with that but we are trying to help them understand that when they put God first, he makes everything else work out. It really comes down to three small and simple things: reading your scriptures every day, praying every day, and going to church every Sunday. One thing that I’ve noticed, is that the members who are doing those three things consistantly are more financially stable and all have jobs. Heavenly Father wants to bless us but we have to first show that we have faith in Him and humble ourselves so that we can recieve those blessings.
I’ve seen some miracles this week! On Tuesday we went to see Melvin (he was baptized a month ago) and he wasn’t there. I was a little disapointed because he has been going through a hard time and we hadn’t been able to get in contact with him for a few days… While we were walking back to our car we passed a man who was working on his car. We talked to him and asked if he wanted to hear a message about Jesus Christ. He (his name was “G”) said he wasn’t interested but that his sister might be and pointed us to the apartment next to Melvins. We had to be at a ward social right then so we told him that we would stop by her place after. When we knocked on her door that night nobody answered so we started walking away but then the door opened just a crack and a lady asked us what we wanted. We told her that we had talked to G and that he said his sister would be interested in hearing a message about Jesus Christ. She told us to wait a minute while she asked the sister. When she came back she said that the sister wasn’t interested. So we asked her if she wanted to hear what we had to say. She said “I don’t care” and came outside… so we took that as a yes! haha We started to explain who we were and what our message was about and she suddenly started crying. There were some people around and we didn’t want her to be embarrassed so we went to the side of the building and sat on some stairs. She told us that she was going through a reallly hard time. Her kids had been taken from her, she doesn’t have a job, and her fiance is cheating on her and that is why she was staying with her cousin that night. We listened to her and explained to her that Heavenly Father loves her and talked about what Christ went through for her and after a while we could see the light in her eyes. She told us that earlier that day she had been praying for some peace in her life and that she knew that we had been sent from God. Ha so that was pretty special 🙂 After that we haven’t been able to get in contact with her because she hasn’t been at her cousins place and she doesn’t have a phone so we were pretty bummed.. But last night after visiting Melvin (yupp! met with him last night!) we were starting to drive away and she pulled into the apartment parking and was so excited to see us! We will be meeting with her this week! Ha so that is just a small example. We haven’t had many investigators in this area lately… that is why we are working with members. So we will see if we can teach her! If not, at least we were able to help her see that God loves her and is aware of her situation. I’ve really been able to see how we have been guided to certain places at the perfect time this past week.
Hope everyone is doing well! I’m better at replying to letters than emails by the way! So I’m sorry if I don’t have time to reply to your emails! Love you all! The Church is true! Have a great week 🙂
